The church of San Nicolò Vescovo replaced the fifteenth-century church of the same name as the parish church, because the village needed a place of worship suited to a grown population. It was built around the middle of the nineteenth century a short distance from the other, strongly promoted by the parish priest don Stefano Pontara and designed by Giuseppe Tonazzi from Comasine; the consecration was celebrated in 1851 by the Bishop of Trento Giovanni Nepomuceno de Tschiderer, who came on a pastoral visit.
The bell tower was built in 1866, detached from the church building, and the finishing work continued in the following decade: the vaults of the hall were decorated with mural paintings, a task that went on until 1925. During the First World War that tower served the Austro-Hungarian army as a military observation post.
It gained parish status in 1919, separating from the pieve of Pellizzano, that is, from the church of the Natività di Maria. From the 1960s until 2007 various conservation restorations have mainly concerned the painted surfaces and the repair of the masonry structures.
