The pieve of Ossana is first documented in 1183 and is among the oldest in the upper Val di Sole: the documents call it erecta ab immemorabili, built from time immemorial. For centuries the churches of the surrounding villages, from Celentino to Mezzana to Ortisé, depended on it.
It was rebuilt from 1495 and the interiors were decorated with frescoes by workers who came from Lombardy. The solemn consecration was celebrated in 1558 by Mariano Manno, suffragan bishop of Trento, but the structural works were only completed in 1609; already in 1637 work was needed on the roof coverings, and two years later on those of the bell tower. In 1656 a disastrous flood demolished the sacristy.
After the middle of the nineteenth century came the new paving of the hall, in red and white stone from the nearby quarries of Priò and Tres, the pyramidal roof on the bell tower and the porch on the façade.
