Romanesque, built between the 12th and 13th centuries, it appears in documents on 21 January 1468: Pope Paul II granted an indulgence of five years to those who visited it on the days of the Assumption and the Annunciation and contributed to the restoration and the sacred furnishings. A way of financing the works that tells us about the age better than any comment.
In 1605 the primissario don Michele Dalpiaz entrusted the master mason Bartolomeo Comandella, who had come from the Val Camonica, with the task of rebuilding it larger in Gothic forms; among the main funders were the Spaur di Valer, whose coat of arms is painted on the keystones. It was consecrated on 27 October 1616, with the relics of Saint Romedio, Saint Simplicianus, Saint Luke and Saint Giuliana.
In 1879, once the new church had been consecrated, this one was abandoned: this is why it is called old. The new one became the parish church only thirty years later, in 1909.
