Castel Morenberg
The Mori became Morenberg, and the fortress became a home, then burned down.

It stands high above Sarnonico, in the place they call Su al Ciastèl. It was the home of the Mori, or de Moris, a family of notaries: around 1380 the bishop of Trento invested the notary Giovanni de Moris, the founder of the line, with the castle. The first building, from the 13th or 14th century, was replaced in the 16th century by a new residence, and on 20 March 1510, in Augsburg, the Emperor Maximilian I confirmed to the brothers de Moris the rank of knights and the noble liberties for their rebuilt house. From then on the family Germanised its name to Morenberg. The castle then had an upper part and a lower one, where the servants lived.
In the 17th and 18th centuries it burned down several times; the sundial above the main door bears the date 1663, probably that of a reconstruction. The Morenberg, counts from 1700, died out in 1746, and their heirs were the barons Cles. In 1888 another fire destroyed almost everything, and only a part was rebuilt as a farmhouse. The curtain walls and the base of a round tower remain. It is a private house and cannot be visited; in 2012 the Provincia decided on a restoration work.
