Castel Coredo

Burnt in 1611, rebuilt in 1726, reopened in 2019.

Castel Coredo
Fam. Coreth · CC0 · source

It stands on a small hill next to the cemetery of Coredo. It appears in 1288, with a Nicolò da Coredo in a deed written in Bolzano, and in 1291 it belonged to Paolo, son of the late Nicola of Castel Coredo; it later became the home of several branches of the Coredo family, the same family that gave its name to Castel Bragher. In 1477 the inhabitants occupied it during a revolt against the prince-bishop of Trento.

In 1611 a fire destroyed it completely and for more than a century it lay abandoned. The reconstruction of 1726 gave it its present form and erased the medieval structure, which was probably larger and occupied the whole top of the hill. It belongs to the Coreth counts, who opened it to guided visits in 2019.

Today in the valleys

Just a moment...

Gipthe bearded vulture of Valli del Noce

Hi, I am Gip. I am a bearded vulture: my species had vanished from the Alps in the 1930s, and the first one born in Trentino in at least a hundred and fifty years took flight from Val di Rabbi this past 16 July.

Ask me about places, the valleys or the people who work here. I answer with what is in our pages: if I do not know something, I will tell you.

Gip is an assistant based on artificial intelligence. It answers only with the verified facts in our pages. Your questions are processed by Anthropic, in the United States, and we do not keep them: do not write personal data. How we handle them.
