Le meridiane artistiche

Since 2002 the cultural association «Le Meridiane», with the support of what was then the Comune of Monclassico, has invited painters, sculptors and artists every summer to create a sundial together with expert gnomonists. The result is an open-air art gallery with almost sixty sundials on the façades of the houses, in the parks and in the squares of the two villages, which are gathered around their churches and face south. Alongside the new works there are historic ones: the survey begun in 2003 documented about fifty in the Val di Sole, including a painted sundial from 1868 on a house in Presson.
