Chiesa di Santa Maria
In 1236 a bull of Gregory IX took it under papal protection.

Documentary research places the building of this church in the eleventh century or shortly after. By around 1235 the Augustinian monks had already built a small hospital next to it, and in 1236 a papal bull of Gregory IX declared that he was taking the sacred place under his protection, explicitly mentioning the church and its dedication to Mary.
In 1244 both the hospital and the church became the property of the Augustinian monks linked to Denno, and about forty years later the complex changed hands again, passing to Corrado da Tscheves, a member of the Teutonic Order. A slow decline then began, which the pastoral visit of 1537 by Cardinal Bernardo Clesio openly denounced.
It was the confraternity of the Rosary that put it back on its feet, restoring and enlarging the old church in 1553; the works of 1615 were probably the conclusion of that building project begun more than sixty years earlier, and in 1616 the suffragan bishop Pietro Belli celebrated its consecration. Between 1747 and 1752 the confraternity raised the height of the bell tower, whose spire later had to be repaired after damage caused by lightning.
