The parish church of Malé appears for the first time in a lease contract of 1178, which describes it as already existing and places its presence before that date. It was rebuilt between 1491 and 1497 to a design by the master stonecutter Adamo da Laino, who incorporated some parts of the earlier building and left the bell tower intact.
Since then the building site has hardly ever stood still: the porch rebuilt in 1531, the presbytery enlarged in 1584 and again in 1802, the interior works by the stonecutter Antonio Gramola between 1609 and 1612, the paving of the presbytery and nave laid by Carlo Melchiori between 1762 and 1765, the façade rebuilt between 1891 and 1893 to a design by Enrico Nordio by the Trentino master builder Giuseppe Deanesi.
In December 1971 a fire damaged it. The restoration that followed was substantial, but the church reopened for worship as early as 1972; the bell tower, the one spared by the fifteenth-century reconstruction, was entirely renovated between 1998 and 1999. The façade is gabled, with an appearance between Romanesque and Gothic, adorned with pinnacles and hanging arches, and a porch shelters the entrance.
