Chiesa di Sant'Antonio

Of the frescoes whitewashed in 1616, nothing more has been learned.

The place of worship at Rallo is first mentioned in 1537, and the year the building was constructed is not known; the bell tower was erected in 1573. The pastoral visit of 1616 ordered the whitewashing of the frescoes that were there: nothing else is known of those paintings, and under the lime they have remained nameless. In 1756 the tower was raised.

From 1866, perhaps because of a fire that had seriously damaged the structure, it was necessary to rebuild the church. During the works, on 9 January 1868, three new bells were blessed; the building site closed in 1877 and the new church was blessed on 28 October of that year. Shortly afterwards the large polychrome stained-glass windows were installed.

It became a parish church in 1943, and some twenty years later the whole structure was enlarged with a new floor: pink Baveno granite for the presbytery, sferogranito for the rest of the nave. The interior walls were decorated by Luigi Delaidotti of Dorsino, and the solemn consecration was celebrated on 25 August 1963.

Today in the valleys

Just a moment...

Gipthe bearded vulture of Valli del Noce

Hi, I am Gip. I am a bearded vulture: my species had vanished from the Alps in the 1930s, and the first one born in Trentino in at least a hundred and fifty years took flight from Val di Rabbi this past 16 July.

Ask me about places, the valleys or the people who work here. I answer with what is in our pages: if I do not know something, I will tell you.

Gip is an assistant based on artificial intelligence. It answers only with the verified facts in our pages. Your questions are processed by Anthropic, in the United States, and we do not keep them: do not write personal data. How we handle them.
