Born of a popular vow against the plague, it burned down twice in six years.

The church of Almazzago was built between 1510 and 1513 to fulfil a popular vow against the plague. It is the same 1510 as the plague after which, in Caldes, Bernardino Malanotti had his own church of San Rocco rebuilt: in these valleys the churches dedicated to that saint almost always have an epidemic behind them.
In the nineteenth century fire struck it twice within a short time: a fire in 1837 and another, more serious one, in 1843. Both were followed by restoration work.
