Chiesa dei Santi Filippo e Giacomo

A fire in 1802, and a new church in place of the old one.

A visit in 1537 records a church at Terres dedicated to Saints Philip and James, belonging to the pieve of Flavon. In 1580 it was not yet finished, although it already had the graveyard and three altars; the visitors asked for the roof to be put in order and for the low cemetery wall to be repaired.

In 1616 it was ordered that the choir be whitewashed, and from that order we can tell that the apse was frescoed, because whitewashing meant covering. In 1802 a fire in the village also damaged the church, which was only partly repaired, and in 1806 it became a curacy. The present building dates from the nineteenth century, built after the demolition of the old one.

Today in the valleys

Just a moment...

Gipthe bearded vulture of Valli del Noce

Hi, I am Gip. I am a bearded vulture: my species had vanished from the Alps in the 1930s, and the first one born in Trentino in at least a hundred and fifty years took flight from Val di Rabbi this past 16 July.

Ask me about places, the valleys or the people who work here. I answer with what is in our pages: if I do not know something, I will tell you.

Gip is an assistant based on artificial intelligence. It answers only with the verified facts in our pages. Your questions are processed by Anthropic, in the United States, and we do not keep them: do not write personal data. How we handle them.
