Capanna Presena
At 2,735 metres in the Presena basin, above the Passo del Tonale, close to what remains of the glacier.
Capanna Presena stands at 2,735 metres in the middle of the upper Presena basin, above the Passo del Tonale, a short distance from the glacier of the same name, which is now much reduced. It began in 1965 as a simple hut for skiers, at that time called Capanna Soldà, and from 1982 the ski lifts to the Passo Presena started from here, dismantled in 2015. In 2016 the building was demolished and rebuilt, and it is now a hotel-refuge with a restaurant. From the Passo del Tonale you go up by cable car, or on foot along path 281 to the Passo Paradiso and then along the service road, in about three hours; in summer, from the Passo Presena you go on to the Rifugio Mandrone.
