Bivacco Bonvecchio
At 2,790 metres below Cima Sassara, on the northern ridge of the Brenta, owned by the SAT since 1972.
The Cima Sassara bivouac "Fratelli Bonvecchio" stands at 2,790 metres on the north shoulder of Cima Sassara, along the ridge of the northern chain of the Dolomiti di Brenta, above the Prigione basin. It is dedicated to Emilio and Settimo Bonvecchio, mountaineers from Trentino who died in 1969: it was built by the men of the Forestale of Cavalese on behalf of the Regione, and in 1972 it was donated to the SAT for the association's hundredth anniversary. It is a timber structure clad in sheet metal, a staging point on the long Sentiero Costanzi, also known as the Sentiero delle Cime. From Malga Mondifrà you climb along path 334 to the Bocchetta dei Tre Sassi and then along the Costanzi via ferrata, in about four and a half hours.
