Lo Scoiattolo
At almost 2,000 metres on the slopes of Peio, in the locality of Tarlenta, where the Pejo 3000 cable car starts.
The Rifugio Scoiattolo stands at almost two thousand metres above Peio, in the locality of Tarlenta, in the middle of the ski slopes of the Val di Peio and at the foot of the Vioz. Next to it starts the Pejo 3000 cable car, opened on 6 January 2011, which climbs towards three thousand metres in the Ortles-Cevedale group. The building, completely renovated in 2007, is in Alpine style with a lot of wood and stube, and from here you can see the Ortles-Cevedale, the Presanella and, in the distance, the Brenta. In summer it is a starting point for hikes: along path 127 you head towards the ruins of Malga Strabisorte and the giant larch of Taviela, 15 metres tall and about five centuries old.
