Corno di Tres

A full 360-degree panorama, and on the path a chasm seventy metres deep.

Corno di Tres
Plentn · CC0 · source

It stands on the watershed between the Val di Non and the Val d'Adige, on the boundary between the provinces of Trento and Bolzano, in the Mendola ridge. It is among the most frequented destinations of the group, because the ascent from the north-north-east is within everyone's reach and from the summit the view sweeps all the way round over the two valleys.

Along the route, near the clearing of Bus del Spin, you come across a natural sinkhole more than seventy metres deep, closed off by a gate for safety reasons; beside it there is a fountain with the inscription SAT 1957. It is one of the many erosional phenomena that have led the Val di Non to be called also the valley of the canyons.

In winter it is a classic outing on snowshoes, and local skiers use it for training, even in the evening after work.

Today in the valleys

Just a moment...

Gipthe bearded vulture of Valli del Noce

Hi, I am Gip. I am a bearded vulture: my species had vanished from the Alps in the 1930s, and the first one born in Trentino in at least a hundred and fifty years took flight from Val di Rabbi this past 16 July.

Ask me about places, the valleys or the people who work here. I answer with what is in our pages: if I do not know something, I will tell you.

Gip is an assistant based on artificial intelligence. It answers only with the verified facts in our pages. Your questions are processed by Anthropic, in the United States, and we do not keep them: do not write personal data. How we handle them.
